You can tag your workouts by using use a #hashtag in the Title, Notes or Social status update fields when you fill in these fields on either the website or in the Android, iPhone or BlackBerry 10 apps. Alternatively, you can use the ”Add a Tag” field on the Workout page at www.endomondo.com.
We are using the standard of #tagging known from Twitter and Facebook. This means that you can easily tag your workouts using #tags and easily share it on Facebook, Twitter and other sites. The tags will be transferred to these sites, so they’re clickable there as well.
Please note that you can only use characters a-z and numbers 0-9 in Endomondo tags. You cannot use spaces, as anything after the space will be considered a new word and not part of the tag.
The tracking feature is useful when you want to keep track of your total mileage in a particular pair of shoes, on particular set of wheels or something completely different. If your new shoes are the “SpeedCross3” model from Salomon, then right in the app (Android, iPhone and BlackBerry 10), after hitting stop, you can use the Social status update field and add a comment like:
“First run in my new #Speedcross3 shoes - very good grip.”
Then #Speedcross3 will be tagged in the workout, which you can see when you look at the workout at www.endomondo.com. See an example in the App and Workout page screenshots below.
Track Non-listed Sports
Currently we don't plan to add any more sports to the app or on the website. Instead, you can use tags to keep track of a non-listed sport (e.g #Trailrun). Just track the run as a regular run and add the tag #trailrun afterwards. You will be given a calorie estimate based on the sport you have selected from the sports list and you will be able to filter your statistics afterwards (if you’re a Premium member - read more below).
As a Premium member you have the option to filter and see statistics for your tags at www.endomondo.com.
At the Statistics page you can filter your stats based on the tags you have added to your workouts, to see e.g. total mileage put on your running shoes, total duration biked with your current chain, personal best development when doing trail running, or something else you have tagged and want to get stats on.
You can add multiple tags in the filter, which will filter the stats by all workouts that have all the selected tags, e.g. workouts with tags such as trailrun AND Speedcross3.
In the History page you can search for workouts with specific tags for quick access and comparison of these workouts. See Statistics page and History page screenshot below with an example for the tag #trailrun.
For the overview of tagging friends, please see the 'Friends' guide.
