Please Note: We have created an updated version for troubleshooting GPS issues, please see the following article here.
Recurring issues with tracking on Android devices running versions 6 and higher.
Note that Android devices have several layers of Battery saving settings to help extend the battery life between charges. If you have already turned off the devices battery saving settings and added the application as ‘Protected’ as noted in the following article: https://support.endomondo.com/hc/en-us/articles/220426948-How-to-solve-common-GPS-issues-on-Android
Also note that no GPS is 100% accurate, this means that distances may differ from another tracking made by you or a friend on the same route, please see our general GPS guide for more information on this: https://support.endomondo.com/hc/en-us/articles/201868967-GPS
Battery Optimization settings for Android devices running version 6 or higher.
The setting referred to in this section is called Optimization settings. This setting acts as another layer of battery saving setting for individual applications (Usually applied on for applications as default).
While this setting is active it may result in the application crashing or not tracking distance and therefore we’d like to encourage users to disable optimization for Endomondo if Enabled.
As we do not have access to all Android devices running Android 6 and higher we would like to note that these settings may appear differently on your device.
